Hello,

Most of my trip to and from work is motorway so use the lane keep assist and active steering, which has been really good but.. the last few days the blue lines that come up and the green lane keep car symbol have just been coming on for a second and then going off and coming on again etc..

Does this sound like a fault or could it be the sun as I seem to be driving into it

Yeah, it does struggle if the sun is shining right at it, and esp at low sun angles, e.g. at dusk. Also check a bird hasn't pooped on the camera on the wind screen!

I find using the window washers to clear the screen can help.

Shadows, especially rapid light-dark-light-dark shadows, like trees, bushes and railings cast at low sun angles, will also confuse it.

Yeah I kinda thought it was something like that first time in a while it's been sunny, screen was perfectly clear.

I generally find the motorway at dusk the worst for it; Even if the car is driving away from the sun, the long shadows from e.g. trees, trucks, even other cars etc. confuse the heck out of it and it has trouble locking onto the lines.

It's funny because it works fine in the brightest day and pitch black night, but that short interval between day and night flummoxes it. I guess the contrast differences are too big for it to compensate!

Another point to the Mk1 Eyeball

I saw a Corolla in the dealers yesterday.  The camera view screen was much wider than on the Yaris X and had 3 red horizontal lines on the windscreen.

No idea why and didn't think to ask.  Scaling?

So drove it at night and again today when it was over cast and did exactly the same thing!! It's worked perfectly for 6 months. Off to the main dealer on Thursday

Not sure what the 3 red lines would be

I find if the road markings are poor as in down to wear/worn then it wont even detect the road lines but your eyes will.
