I asked if a Yaris cross icon had a 12v socket in the boot was told yes but it does not, I need one so how can I fit one is the wiring hidden behind the panel as I know the excel and GR does have one .

Can’t be sure about that.  You’d think the wiring loom was common and just the plug was missing but we’ve seen recently that the wiring for the mood lights isn’t there on some models.  I can tell you that the plug is close to the boot light and as I’ve modified several of them to have a led bulb.  Remove it by prying it out from the front and pulling it out with the wire connected.  The plug for the 12v socket is attached if you can pull it far enough to see it (if it’s there).  I’ve highlighted them in this photo.

Thanks it has not arrived yet , I might ask the dealer to fit one first if not I will be doing this and seeing, I take it the panel is easy to remove.

Depends how confident you are at removing them.  You can follow the instructions in the towbar wiring instructions.  Doing this kind of job is easier now the weather is getting warmer.
