Hi I am in the process of buying a 2019 1.2t corolla. What should I look out. Its got about 27500 miles on the clock.

Also it was previously registered by a business, and been told the sat nav ain't loaded with maps. How much would I be looking at paying for this to be done, or is there a site I can download an update for these

Hi,

just the usual checks for used car purchase. These aren’t very popular and been discontinued there are very few examples. I think they are sn excellent choice for those who like a manual car. The maps not sure worth any upgrade even if it’s available. Google maps or waze on your smartphone will be way better to use. Check if the car has service history and when was last serviced. Schedules are 12 months or 10k miles. If you service it in Toyota dealer you will get another year of warranty (10k miles), it is handy in case something goes wrong.
Good luck

Cheers. The missus works for arnold clark as a receptionist, plus her brother is a mechanic. The car will be serviced when it arrives. Sailed through the mot at the start of the month  aswell

There was an Apple Carplay/Android Auto upgrade available for the early Corollas  -  around £50 if done with a service of £120 if done as a stand alone. If buying from a Toyota dealer, ask them to check if it has been done - if not see how much it would cost or see whether they will do it as part of the sale.

Isn't Android Auto standard ? , I downloaded Tom Tom Amigo the free version today and it doesn't look to bad

It is now but I guess wasn't on the earlier models.

A bit like how new new models get wireless AA/ACP, but the old new ones, like mine, only have wired AA/ACP.

Nice they can be upgraded tho; I don't think my Yaris can be upgraded to have wireless AA sadly! (If I could have that and wireless charging that'd be awesome  )

It wasn't on the first year of Corolla production if I remember correctly, but was standard from 2020 onwards. The earlier cars can be updated to install it though as the OP has found.

AFAIK AA is still wired only. 🙁

For future up-to-date maps for this car you'll need to join MyToyota, download bought map to USB stick, then insert it in the car USB socket under the dash. It is a long-winded process (search this forum for help). Prices are shown in MyToyota site relevant to your model/car which is £119 for UK and Europe map (outrageous).

I have same vehicle as you and so far happy with it. With my urban driving, I get around 33-37 mpg which is not brilliant.

Only problem for me is reliable starting. Sometimes I have to press foot brake momentarily (build up pressure ??), then full clutch, then ignition.

When the current Corolla and Rav4 first went on sale in 2019, neither Apple Carplay nor Android Auto were available on the multimedia units.

In late 2020, Toyota introduced a delayed update that was dealer only install. A minority of owners tried to self install the update and a few bricked head unit.

From memory, the update cost around £50 if done with a service, or £120 (Corolla)/£150 (Rav4) if done as a standalone appointment.

Later models had Carplay/Auto as standard.
