The Asian market Yaris Cross is a different car to the European market Yaris Cross. Based on a Daihatsu platform.

Forget other markets.  Toyota sell different versions worldwide but you will get what’s on their website.

Yeeaah pretty sure if you arnt from said asian market you arnt going to see the "facelift". It shares the engine I believe but that's the only thing making it a a Yaris Cross

My YC had a price increase when I ordered it (a week after I discussed it first with the dealer).

This confused him (and upset me) but after checking he said it was because it was a MY23 now.

No idea what the difference is between MY23 and the previous version.

Anyone know? (YC Excel).

Not much I’m afraid but you get sill covers with Hybrid written on and you get the Nanoe-X particle generator which adds minute amounts of moisture into the incoming air.  They also reckon it completely eliminates the risk of air conditioning related illnesses.   The sill guards are £75 if you fit them yourself and the Nanoe-X is only a tiny device but probably quite expensive.

Sill Covers were not standard when I ordered mine despite a late 2022 price rise.

Yes I know.  That’s when my 23 was built.

The above refers to the very latest Excel spec then as mine was built in January 2023 & clearly they have added sill protection to the very latest model.
