Model differences 20 to 21

Hello all.

I've been offered a great deal on a 2020 Excel AWD, so I'm pondering trading in my 21 Design against it, I have a lot of equity in the Design.

It doesn't have the awd-i Badge on the back so I might order a genuine on and add it.

Is there much difference between the two, software-wise?  I mean things like android auto or screen options or the like?

Is the awd system the same for all 2019-2023 Rav HEVs?

Cheers

Early Rav4's didn't have Apple Carplay/Android Auto until an update around Nov 2020. Think from memory the cost was £50 if done with a service and £150 as a standalone. Check when in 2020 it was first registered, and whether the update has been done.

I am curious as to why it doesn't have the AWD-i Badge if it is an AWD model?

Are you sure it is AWD? Does it have the drive mode selector dial and a Trail button as opposed to just 3 buttons?

I haven't seen the car yet and the ad has gone as it's been reserved for me.

They are replacing the bumper as it is scratched and 3yr service and mot.

It will be a week or so to get this done and I can test drive it and I have questions that I want to know now as I am a child 🤣

It looks the same as this car:

They look to me like 18 inch wheels and when I put the reg of the one I have reserved into tyre sites it comes up as 18s.  Is this right?  I hope it is tbh as I prefer the 18s to the 19s.

Does it come with led fogs as standard?

I know the interior window switches aren't lit and I will taking off the lit switches and led bulbs that I fitted to the design.

If I get the car to just how I want it I plan to keep it til the end of the extended warranty period, so 11 years if I time it right.

I have looked after my Design so it will be a good buy for someone.

And it will be under the 5 year warranty not 3.

There are some differences between the earlier and later cars covered in this video from Ahmed.

My 2021 car has all of these changes so they do not appear to limited to 2022 models. Not sure how may would be on a 2020 car though. I would be particularly wary of the HV cable problem.

So:

  • 18" wheels - 225/60R18
  • Standard fogs are halogen (IIRC)

My Rav4 Excel AWD was registered in October 2020 and has the 19 inch wheels (multiple twin spokes and Android Auto)

Does it look that blue in the flesh or is it only that saturated in the photos? That is quite possibly the bluest car I have ever seen.

Haven't seen it yet.  I can get the deposit back or hold it for another car if don't like this one.

But aye, it's bluer than a blue thing on national blue day
