Corolla Cross wheel size

Hello there,

 

my question is will 18" 7,5J ET45 wheels fit Corolla Cross?

Local tire shop says yes, but I want to confirm.

Online searches say 7Jx18 ET50, tyre size 225/50R18

Not true in my case. Talk with Toyota dealership today and they confirmed 7Jx18 ET40.

As you can see in the chart below, 7J is the standard rim width for 225/50R18.

If you fit a 225/50R18 tyre to a wider 7.5J rim the ride will be harder and the rim less protected from kerbing damage.

There's good reasons that Toyota fit the 225/50R18 to a 7J rim and not a 7.5J rim.

215/60R17 fitted to a 6.5J rim is a far more comfortable tyre size than 225/50R18 fitted to a 7J rim.

215/60R17 is a cheaper tyre size than 225/50R18.

215/60R17 is often available in a lower H-speed rating and Standard Load index, whereas the 225/50R18 is often available in a much higher W-speed rating and eXtra Load index. All this makes for a stiffer tyre, making the ride even harder. 

ETRTO approved rim sizes

215/60R17 6.0-6.5-7.5

225/50R18 6.0-7.0-8.0

I already ordered car in Poland, where standard rim size is 7Jx18 ET40.
