Well thats about the best it is going to get, no polishing, just as stages 1 - 5. No I have not forgotten the wine a little bit early.

I was at one of those hand car washes yesterday, and as I needed to give guy the money, I slipped the car into neutral and put the handbrake on. I left it like this, thinking nothing of it as the car was being washed, but after about 5 minutes the car flashed up a message about not leaving in neutral to protect the traction battery..... Never seen this before. Should I not leave in neutral (never have before btw). Should I just move gear into park when I visit a car wash....

So, as this post has morphed into 'how to do a carwash'. I will respond to the OP. Yes this happened to me today whilst I was waiting at a level crossing. I'd never seen it before, but that's not a surprise as I've only had mine a month. I put it in park whilst I waited.

Never use Neutral - other than when shifting between Drive and Reverse. Or, at least, I can't see any situations in which you might need to use Neutral.

When in Neutral the ICE is at least logically disconnected from the transmission so is unable to run MG1 and thus cannot generate charge. However, the car is still fully 'on' and many electrical systems can draw upon the 12v auxiliary Battery. The system will attempt to maintain the SoC of the auxiliary Battery by drawing from the traction Battery and ultimately this will result in 'sadness' 😞 Avoid neutral.

For a shorter stop it is absolutely fine just to leave the car in Drive with your foot on the brake; for a longer 'stop', put the car into Park. Perhaps counter-intuitively, while in Park the ICE can turn MG1 to generate power ...

If you do not use these washes and do it yourself you will not encounter this problem.😀🤩
