I have a corolla estate and i have a clicking/ tapping noise thats driving me mad. I think i have narrowed it down to the retractable parcel shelf. Does anyone else have this issue and has anyone found a remedy.

When im parked I have tried bouncing the boot and  shaking the car but it doesn't make the noise.

I don't have this problem but you can unclip the parcel shelf and remove the whole assembly from the car if you want. Then go through a process of elimination to find what else might be rattling. Try folding the rear seats down. Seat belt rattles etc. I'm sure you will pin point the problem in time.

I did that and thats why in sure its the parcel shelf because the noise stops but when you shake it manually it doesn't replicate the noise. I need to leave it in as sometimes i have valuable item in the boot. I am trying different things to see if its something to do with where it clicks in to place

If the parcel shelf rattling from the mechanism only some silicone grease may eventually help. If it’s from the fitting into the interior holes and if they are hard plastics then a foamy insulation tape or windows seals around the plastic fittings on the parcel may prevent vibrations and rattling noises, I think the shelf should have this already installed?

It looks liie plastic on plastic, i will try putting something to insulate between the two.  Process of elimination if nothing else 😄

I hadn't thought of that but it all seems fine 👍
