RAV4 mk5 Firmware update

My RAV4 hybrid mk5 is due to be serviced on Monday, does anyone know if the firmware update is worth paying £50 for? If done with the service it’s £60 instead of £150. Also on the Toyota uk site there are multimedia updates available that can be downloaded onto a memory stick - has anyone tried this? Many thanks.

Mine is in for servicing on Wednesday so also interested in this. I had no idea about the firmware update, not mentioned to me when I booked the service.

What problem(s) does the firmware address and what new or improved features does it offer? Without that information it is impossible to make any decision.

It was not mentioned to me at my recent service either.

I became aware of this when I checked in online at my local Toyota dealer. This was amongst a priced menu of additional services to the standard service - if you know what I mean!

I use Waze for navigation so not too bothered about my Toyota SatNav not having the latest updates. As for the updates that can be downloaded from the Toyota uk website to a memory stick  and installed - I will probably give that a miss on the premiss of “don’t fix what isn’t broke!”

The firmware update that cost £50 if done as part of a service was, probably, the update to add AA & ACP to 2019 4.5s (except the base grade).

I'm not aware of anything significant (and optional) since then ...

Do you have AA and AC ? What are your Model ID(s) and current version(s) ? - these can be found in the update menu

At least your dealer knows about it. My car was serviced last Thurs and I asked them to do the Android Auto update at the same time. When I collected the car, they hadn't done the update! They were not sure what I wanted? When I explained about the £50 update when done with a service - they hadn't heard of it. Service guy checked with manager. He hadn't heard of it either - really!! He said if I could show him something in writing they would honour it - I went back the next day with an extract from Toyota Mag. Oh, that's fine sir, we'll book you in next week, so it's hopefully being done Tues.

Not very pleased at having to make a second trip to have it done and even less impressed that a customer has to educate them of information publicly available from Toyota UK since 2021 - unbelievable. Sorry for rant, but it does make you mad.

Worth correcting that statement. Except Base grade where Sat Nav isn't spec'ed.
I've got the base model with Sat Nav and have had the AA & ACP upgrade. Best £50 i've spent on this car.

Well, to be as precise as we can, the original thread stated:

Toyota UK have announced details of the programme to allow the upgrade of existing MM17 Audio units in 2019 Corolla & 2019 Rav4.

A retro fit kit will be available via your local Toyota dealer starting May 2020 and will available to install on all 2019 Corolla Grades and 2019 Rav4 with the exception of the ICON grade, there is no solution available for 2019 Rav4 Icon, 2019 Prius nor 2019 Camry.
