I'm going to show how far behind the door  I am here.

I've decided today to try bluetooth music, rather than USB. So I punted all my music from the usb to my phone, aaanndd, it doesn't work.

If I play the file on my phone it sends it to the car, but the car won't automatically play anything.

I'm guessing I've cocked up somewhere.

I've just copied everything as it was from usb to phone. So it's artist - album - song, folder structure which was fine on usb.

Too complicated for bluetooth?

Are you connected to Apple CarPlay or Android Auto too ? If yes , music will not play through bluetooth

And if I manually play a track on my phone

I installed a music player on my phone (Rocket Player for Android). That will stream over bluetooth treating the car like a pair of headphones. If I connect the phone then Rocket Player plays on the car and audio comes that way.

I'm doing this quite often, playing music via bluetooth using the car as Speakers.

I noticed that sometimes if the transmission is interrupted (I make or receive a call, switch to radio etc.) the connection becomes corrupted and no longer works. It seems liek the infotainment gets stuck or something. The only thing I can do to fix it is to stop the car, off/on the engine (restart the infotainment) and then it works again.

What I've noticed is that sometimes (quite often actually) the bluetooth connection seems to partially fail. music always plays but sometimes track/artist information shows on the infotainment unit as 'Not provided'. It's not a problem with the metadata on the phone because Rocket Player will be showing the information correctly. Also I've had cases where a track that was previously 'Not provided' is correctly displayed the next time I start the car and the other way around.

My guess is some kind of timing issue.
