Yaris 2002 boot lock not working

Hi,

Anyone can help with this one please?

I have a Yaris from 2002 and, until a few weeks ago, everything was OK. All of a sudden boot lock would play up when locking my car with a remote. The boot lock was working intermittently- sometimes it locked with the remote, sometimes it didn't. Now, it doesn't lock with the remote at all.

I tried to lock the car manually (using the key itself in driver's door) but the boot lock doesn't engage at all. I have to physically lock it using the key in the boot lock barrel.

Any ideas why this would be happening? The lock itself onbiously works but it seems there's an issue with 'communication' with the remote and manual car lock.

I would be grateful for any suggestions and pointers as, if possible, I'd like to try to rectify this problem myself.

I'd suspect the boot lock solenoid has got 'sticky'. Take off the trim panel and see if it can be cleaned up or lubricated.
