So, I'm driving along and break to a stop or slow down almost to a stop using the brakes, when I pull away there is an audible click.

I mentioned this to the dealer, and they said it was the brake pads. It may be because as far as I can tell, I slow down to a virtual stop without using the brakes then accelerate, it doesn't happen.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Once you've heard it, you can't un-hear it.

I have known brake pads click/bang depending on how hard they are sticking its happens because they need striping down and the pins, back of caliper & guides need cleaning / regreasing.

Its a lot worse if you brake in reverse then brake again going forward or vice verser.

Is that what Toyota recommends?

Just maybe Toyota think it be ok until next year OR its at extra cost to the service!.

Could be worse - Certain years of Tesla are notorious for weird clicking caused by some sort of misalignment between the driveshaft splines and the motors!

It's funny that cleaning the brake system as part of the service is quite uncommon with ICE vehicles but more common with EVs, esp. with EV specialists like Cleevely

I read this elsewhere as a problem from restiling 2021 to 2023 due to the floating caliper

I have this noise on my car but also my girlfriend’s car which is electric and fairly recent from 2021. Very likely it’s from the brakes indeed. Even though my brakes were serviced last two months still I got these clicks.
The last time has happened after I went through deep waters during the floods in the spring, my car is old and high miles so could be something else like worn out ball joints or stabiliser bat links, they will do similar clicks too. 2022 cars are too new to have any brake issues, unless been seating unused for months and it has been raining often, so discs and callipers, pads  etc are covered in rust. Perhaps don’t worry about it and the noise may disappear by itself. Just check if the discs are clean, shiny and rust free.

Is it definitely the brakes? I ask because there i a relay which is linked to the hybrid Battery which can also cause the clicking noise.

I myself have an odd squeak when I apply the brakes at low speed, when I almost come to a stop. It's been in for repair three times now, and a new rear caliper has been fitted under warranty. The brake noise id still there though. But that's for another topic.

OP here.

The clicking seemed to get worse, you could here it all the time, so I booked it in at my local dealership under warranty and they knew exactly what this was.

They re-greased the bearing around the drive shaft on the drivers side. So far so good, I drove it back home and didn't hear the clicking, so fingers crossed. I head the service guy mention the words service bulletin so I think it's a well known thing.

I frequently get a “clicking noise” or similar when I pull off my driveway after the car has stood for a few days.  Wife often says, “what was that?”   It isn’t unique to my Toyota - previous cars have made a noise (some quite loud) when the car has been standing - mainly the rear brakes which have been permanently held on by the handbrake during the parked period.  Do the CH-R electrically operated brakes lock the pads on when parked, or is the parking brake purely transmission-controlled?

Parking brake is only controlled by the parking brake electronics, not related to transmission and if you prefer you can disable auto engage and leave the car in P only instead. It is safe to do so on even roads and it is better for your brakes. P is parking lock from the transmission.

Probably just spot rusted on from not moving for a while.

I would go along with that.  For short time periods (say a day or two), rust is less likely than natural sticking together of the pad and disc surfaces due to prolonged pressure of the two surfaces, one against the other.

The OP did explain the issue that he was originally talking about ... 😉
