Hi,

When installing a headunit (I've checked out those guides with pics, v good!) what are the "side effects" e.g. what happens to the LCD? You know the one with temp, etc. I presume channel selection and station name doesn't work anymore?

Also how easy it it to change Speakers in the Yaris?

First post and so many questions! Sorry :P

when you reconect the power(if you disconnected it) you will only see the time, drive a few meters and the rest of the display will light up

Hi and thanks for the replies.

What about the Speakers? Is the headunit generaly poor that they won't make a difference if changed?... I've been spoilt with a Sony and Kenwood setup in the current car and was a little disappointed with the stereo when test driving the Yaris.

I'm currently negotiating between dealers and brokers on the Yaris T-Spirit 1.3 5dr, but hope to put an order in very soon.

the std HU isnt much cop but can be improved with better Speakers and an amp but still if you spend thousands on additional stuff the signal is only as good as the HU can ever put out

if you want better sound quality your best lookin at a new one

Ive got a little question about changing the head unit

Can u still use the steering wheel controls? or do they only work with the factory fitted unit

You can sometimes get adapters from the head unit manufacturers like these from Pioneer. Unfortunetely there doesn't seem to be one from Pioneer for the Yaris :(

Maybe other companies do one for their head units?

theres normally 'generic' steering wheel adaptors for most makes of cars.

think alpine may do one?
