If that would make you feel better, the heated steering wheel could be done better as it heats up in just four points and there is no regulation so for me it jumps from "mild cold" to "lava" rather quick 😛 and the button to enable it is in really poor place - very low on the side panel next to the doors where the auto high beam button is. So i rarely use it myself

Thanks that does make me feel better

It’s at home already. Loving the color ! 💙

Wow that looks a lot better than the shots Toyota took! The blue displayed in the press materials was much lighter than that, almost a pastel cyan colour which just looked weird to me.

I'd still prefer the Galactic Blue given the choice, but if that photo is more representative of the colour in real life then it's much better than what was shown before!

The MK4 hatchback is one of the most stylist looking small car around, can't think of a better looking one - just my opinion. When I look at how small it is and how brilliant it performs, it makes me smile owning one.

Toyota done a fab job on it. Though the premiere 130 pricing isn't competitive, only a slow sale will make Toyota reduce the price. I have to spend £8-9k to upgrade to the 130 from my 23 plate design, not a chance. No heated seats/steering wheel either.

Like I said, I/we will never recommend a renault/french car over a Toyota for long term ownership, but keeping for the 3 years warranty period can make sense on this occasion over the Toyota.

Absolutely agree; Whatever they started feeding the Toyota design teams they should feed them more! (And maybe feed some to the Lexus designers  )

Even the Corolla looks pretty good, although more understated than the Yaris, which just looks hilariously angry from the front   I agree with flash22 that the rear could do with some work though, but where's the fun in getting it perfect first time!

While I didn't mind the bland understated looks of their previous cars, it is a nice change - They proved they had the ability to design something that looked good with the GT86, which I still think looks great when I see one on the road, and I'm glad they let that spread to the other cars a bit.

I think the MY24 Premiere will be something I keep an eye out for on the used market; New it's too much to justify changing from my current one, given the absolute pounding my bank balance has been taking lately, but who knows in the future!

They've got plenty of time given how slowly EVs are progressing... I'm not at all confident my Yaris-sized EV that can do 300+ miles at 70mph in winter is going to be a thing by 2030, maybe not even 2040 at this rate!

Looks nice! Is that the premier in neptune blue? Looks darker than the press/media shots. Any pictures outside in good light?

I only have this one. We were surprised that the color is looking much better than we expected.

Haven’t got many opportunities to drive for a longer distance yet, but so far the consumption seems to be little bit higher than on the previous 116ps engine. But the engine is still “raw” so we’ll see. But what I noticed is that they did some improvements on chassis. The car seems to be swallowing the inequalities better. Overall I’m very sattisfied.

I could well believe it; My highest mpg in my OG Mk4 Yaris is something like 84mpg in high summer.

The electric motor in the 130 should be able to accelerate and hold the car at higher speeds than the 115, so it'll have even more opportunity to use the electrics than the 115's.

Unfortunately I have no self discipline and can't resist blatting the car from the lights or overtaking unnecessarily fast on the motorway :whistling1: :naughty: so my mpgs tend to be in the mid-70s more often

Nevertheless, that's pretty impressive given the journey length and average speed... We'll see what real world consumption is like when we get ours...

You can get these fanciful mileages but you can’t always maintain them.  I can coax more than 100 mpg out of a Yaris on certain trips but they are largely downhill after resetting the trip meter.  However, I’d have to live on the Cheshire Plain and never go back to Derbyshire because the laws of physics apply.  Once the Battery gets depleted and going home requires some hills, the truth starts to emerge and 49 out of 60 minutes on Battery isn’t happening.  Don’t get me wrong, they are very good but our friend needs to do that trip backwards after resetting and do tank to tank measurements to be representative.

Yeah, I only give my tank average figures for that reason; The instant mpg is helpful for gauging how economically you're driving at that moment but is otherwise not useful as it's too variable otherwise - I've had lows of 30-something and highs of 999 on a single street

Even the trip average is a bit deceptive - My out journey is slightly uphill but my return journey is slightly downhill and it makes a surprising difference, around 10-20mpg depending on traffic.

It is fun for one-upmanship though :naughty:

One thing that throws me off in the video is he seems to be able to run the car on electric only for far longer than I normally experience, but I'm not sure how much of that is the improved MG2 or the lower speeds he does a lot (20-30kph is very slow!)

***Waves to Don from that there Cheshire Plain*** 👋👋👋 I can't go to Derbyshire as my car is not used to hills 😂😂😂

Yes, it's a good example of how to get the absolute best out of a hybrid and using some of the techniques will help real world MPG; planning your route to take advantage of slower/quieter roads, maximising effect of gravity on hills, keeping speeds low, anticipation and gentle acceleration.

But you don't need to hypermile to get an advantage. My other half's MK4 regular gets up to 60 MPG (over in summer) and she is not a slow driver. Be interesting to see what she gets in the new 130 when it arrives.

 Indeed - That's what's great about the Mk4! It's a truly efficient car.

Other cars claim to get similar mpgs, but in the real world they don't even get close unless you actively drive them extremely efficiently, but then in my eyes that's the driver being efficient, not the car.

I drive like a hooligan and still regularly get a 70+mpg tank average without even trying, and when I try even a bit I can get it into the high-70s/low-80s fairly easily (Albeit in summer - Got no hope while it's cold because the engine temp cools down too fast; I sometimes wonder if I did a front grille delete on mine, cabbie-style, whether it would help  ); The only other car I've had that I could drive like that and still get 60+mpgs was my old Mk1 D4D, but that was much less fun in traffic (There is something really satisfying about dropping into the electrics while in traffic then roaring away on the engine when you get free of it  )

I don’t know if the MY24 Yaris has got to UK dealers yet but the sister car, the MY24 Mazda2 Hybrid is now in UK showrooms if people wanted a peek at the larger infotainment system and native nav plus the customisable driver display.

I won't be enabling the Smart Key on mine until it's clear whether it not this is a security hole that can be exploited by ne'er do wells
