Yaris 2001 Ignition Barrel

hi replace the ignition barrel car turns over but won't start is it to do with the key not being painted somehow to the vehicle. it's a 2001 yaris keys don't look like they have a transponder.

how do I get it to start

Keys need to match the ecu

I suspect the immobiliser is operating (keys with transponder chip.)

Some cars of this vintage are supplied with 3 keys one bypasses the transponder circuit.

If your old key has a Battery inside its a transponder key.

Presence or absence of a Battery has nothing to do with most transponders. They are powered wirelessly for the most part.

@simon1509 Does your Yaris have a Security LED in the centre of the car near the radio?

The red security light flashing would indicate that your car had an active immobiliser.
