Avensis T27 (2009 model - 59 reg) boot seal replacement

Hello,

My boot is sticking and not opening when the button is pressed. I think it's the boot seal as it looks a bit worn on this old car.

I've contacted a local dealership and they've quoted £90.56 for a replacement OEM seal. Does anyone know if the seal is just a straight swap like a door seal? Or do I need to use some special glue to fasten it in place and keep it water tight?

Thanks

Our does the same thing (T27 Estate).

Follow these steps for a long-term remedy:

1. Remove the seal and set it aside. Vacuum thoroughly the boot and all the dust and debris from the area where the seal is sitting in.

2. Clean the seal and check if it is in one piece and not degraded; these are very strong parts.

3. Apply some rubber conditioning liquid all around and fit back (You can use some Wynn's Engine Stop Leak liquid as it is a rubber conditioner and not expensive).

4. Vaccum the boot latch compartment (where the boot is locking).
