Hello out there.

I have a leak in my head gasket. and have most of the motor attachments / accessories  out...but the intake manifold is in my way and the nuts on the bottom (i can feel two) I am not sure if there are more. under the car (in the driveway and sitting on a couple of besser blocks it is hard to get much room to get hands in with spanner, likewise above. I am just wondering if anyone out there has some experience that they can share.  Any help appreciated.1966700275_enginewithheadcoveroff2.thumb.jpg.9ac02b53fc19b1bfd42b274c6c057771.jpg1149621701_intakemanifod2jpg.thumb.jpg.df53d4ce9e7fda173f9bd17bc76f8f85.jpg

the timing chain cover is quite close to the frame is going to be a bu**er to get out , but might just make it.

Hi

that‘s exactly what I did yesterday. The rocker cover gasket was as hard as plastic!

on your last pic it seems you managed to pull out the cover well. What is exactly your difficulty? Maybe I misunderstood…I’m French by the way !

add some glue (gasket glue against heat)on the gasket sides before you close it.

thank you both for your replies.

I am trying to get head off. intake manifold is hard to find bolts. under neath. I am leaning to the idea that there are NO bolts at bottom. as I cannot see nor feel anything.

there is minimal amount of room towards dashboard....and wondering if anyone has some tips to get it off and out.

As for the timing chain assembly cover, I have degreased it and had a good look (with wheel off) . I think I can get at all the nuts and bolts, but still may be tricky to get it off the bolts and out....so little room between assembly and frame.

But the intake manifold is my big worry. If I miss one nut ....just one....it isn't going off. HELP! thanks everyone.

  • 2 weeks later...

Do you mean valve cover gasket? Those are rubber with some o ring grommets that also need replacement.  Head gasket is under it that need much more complicated works. We have to remove the front cover, timing chains, etc.
