I'm about to replace my tyres. Do they have to be extra load as someone on another forum suggested? The ones fitted don't have anything on them that suggests that they are.

The load rating will be stated on the tyre already fitted, unless someone went cheap prior to you owning it.

I always buy "reinforced" for my V6...used to buy Avon but now using Taurus...I buy from Blackcircles.

On mine (Yokohama) it says 94V whilst the handbook says 96H. Yokohama ain't cheap so I'm confused

94/96 is the load rating, how much weight each tyre can bear., it's best to keep that correct if you can. 

Speed rating is less important as even H is rated up to 130mph.

My original tyres were 95V but my new Goodyear all seasons are 99W.
