Got a message on the media player saying " software update failed. Error 101" . Dealer couldn't find anything wrong and said all the software was up to date. Today I noticed that the e-call was not working. (Green light not on.) Are these two conditions linked?

I had an error with no light on e call ,dealer had to reset the telematics box  but had no issue with software update

I've had a couple of other IT issues and they seem to be when the car has been parked in the sun. I wonder if the DCM in the sharkfin is affected by the heat.

Once again got my "Software update failed. Error 101." message. I have tried to ascertain which software is failing to load and have turned off all the "new software available" notifications to see if that helps. If I follow the map update path I get a message saying "contact your dealer".

My map is Eur, version:12:22:45 (2022-02-5). Does anyone have a 2023 Corolla with a later map than this. Toyota help videos are no use at all as OTA updates don't seem to apply to my Corolla. I'm a strong advocate of the "read the manual" school, but frankly they are no help at all.

I have a MY23 Corrola in a Toyota dealership with the SOS button not lighting up and E call not working. Been told it’s an 8 week wait for a new DCM module and the car is off the road. Not happen about it to be honest but these things happen.

Why is the car off the road? It's a communications module.

The car is off the road cause the e call button is not working which is controlled by the DCM module which Toyota Ireland class my car as safety issue.

I’m having this Software update error the last couple of days , and it’s starting to annoy me as I don’t know how to get rid of it.

It’s not connected to wi fi normally - but when I connect it and try to see or update the software , it says no update available 🤷‍♂️

How do I get rid of this error message to pop up ?

I, hopefully, got rid of it by turning off notifications in the software and navigation menus.

From another topic it looks like in the UK, the DCM is covered by a Customer Service Campaign rather than a DVSA safety recall.

Ireland may have different arrangements, and Toyota Ireland is a privately owned company, rather than Toyota owned, so again may differ from Toyota UK.

As far as I was told my MY23 Corolla was the only one in Ireland with this problem. I have got my car back today a few weeks earlier and the dealer said it’s very rare for the DCM to be changed out. I don’t believe him but it’s back on the road and no problems so far. Are you in Ireland RabButler. My dealer was a Dublin one.

No. In Gloucestershire as my details reveal.

Oh right sorry I didn’t look. Well my Corrola had a DCM changed and my dealer which is one of the biggest selling in the country said it was their first DCM changed over. E-Call was the reason it was taken off the road.

I’ve just had this appear on my 2023 TS today. 

It’s annoying as I was on a day out and was unable to view the sat nav on the drive home.

My e-call has a solid green light on but the MyT app thinks my car is still parked 70 miles away and hasn’t updated the odometer mileage in the app since this morning.

Is there any way to hide or disable the 101 error message so that I can view my screen, use the sat nav etc?

I turned off the notification but today the error message came back again. And noticed the e-call green light was off too.

Strangely I have driven the car the whole morning without any problems and late afternoon error message poped up …. 🤷‍♂️ 

So what do we have to do with it ? I’m working with the car and the idea of getting it off the road wouldn’t be ideal at all 

 

does the car needs to be connected to wi fi all the time ?

How do you getting on with the error message these days ?

For me some days is off , but after that it keeps coming back … if I connect to my phones wi fi hotspot , it seems like it stops … but than I loose the Apple car play wireless connectivity ….. if I connect it back , the wi fi stops and the error message stops as well …. Honestly , I don’t know what or where is the logic in all this , but when it comes up I keep playing with the wi fi connection …. Regarding the data in the MyT app 🤦🏻‍♂️ it’s hit and miss as well ….. for new cars , I think it’s very poor 🫣

I haven't had the error 101 message since turning off the notifications. I am trying to video the e-call switching itself off, but so far the car behaves itself when a camera is watching. Sod's law!

Latest software message is one telling me to update the Gracenote database. Any ideas on that one?

Got 'error 101' again today. Managed to scare the message away by rebooting the multimedia. Definitely seems to be linked to a communications failure. If the car is parked in the sun, the e-call switches itself off. MyT then does not record any journeys. 

Is the DCM located in the shark fin or in the roof panel by the e-call switch?
