Hi, I need to get 4 new tyres for my Auris excel, I have at the moment good year 225/45/17 91 load, my question is should I get the larger load 94 or stick with 91. Will the 94 ones give a more stiffer ride if so will stick with 91, Thanks for any helpful replies. Mike

Just noticed the label on inside of door with tyre pressures also has stamped 225 45 17 91w. So I will go with the 91.

Best to stick to 91w as the others will be stiffer. Here best possible summer tyres for your car. https://www.asdatyres.co.uk/goodyear/efficientgrip-performance-2/225-45-17-91-w--efficientgrip-performance-2?id=5452000682604 you may want to check other online retailers to compare the prices .

To be honest, I had not noticed much difference between 91 and 94 in comfort, 94 have a bit sharper handling. Check the fuel and wet performance rating, often 94 tyres have better rating. The tyres Tony mentioned are very good.

Thicker side wall = better handling, less comfort. I am not sure how much more sprung weight effect the fuel consumption but usually it gets worse on heavier tires.

I remember that Michelin Defender with 900 UTHQ last 80k miles but it caused noticable mpg dropped on Prius. Probably 1 to 3 mpg less.
