2021 Rav4 PHEV 2023v1 Maps update not working on mm19 touch2

I have been rather annoyed by my 2021 Rav arriving with 2020 maps on it. From my mytoyota account I can download the 2023 V1 maps update and duly have. I extract the update to a USB drive and have now put it on a 1TB and 256GB usb. I can confirm the only folder in the root is FMU, all the update files are in there. But my Rav media system won't recognise that there are any updates on the drive. I have also tried the over the air update and it says my system is out of date and needs full maps update. Am I missing a step to get my touch2 to work with the 2023V1 update or anything?

Could very well be ... it needs to be formatted FAT32. A 32GB, FAT32 formatted, USB drive works for me - I suspect that it is type 1 but I doubt that is the issue  ... 😉

As per your other post - can you confirm that your USB drive is formatted as FAT32?

The point being that the system expects a FAT32 formatted drive and won't recognise the data if it is not ...

Well that explains why it isn't working ... it must be FAT32.

Windows will happily format a smaller capacity USB drive as FAT32 - there's an upper limit on drive size with FAT32 which is why it isn't offered. You'd be best off buying (or finding) a 32GB stick, formatting that as FAT32 and dedicating it to map updates.

Try it with a USB2 drive if you have one or download MiniTool® Partition Wizard Free 12.7 from here. https://www.minitool.com/partition-manager/partition-wizard-home.html

ok this is great thanks so much i had no idea it had to be fat32. So Ive formatted my usb3 120GB device to FAT32 with a little app called GUIformat and it set the whole drive to FAT32. Ive unpacked the files and its now recognized after about 5 min wait for the read to take place ive gone through the activation code part and its actually working. So will update when done. In the mean time is there anything else i need to update to get android auto and the latest entertainment software or is this all done with the maps update ? thanks again guys brilliant

AFAIK the only things that you / we can update are the maps ... and that will take around 75 minutes so be patient! 🙂

A 2021 car should have AA / ACP by default - my 2020 car does ... if for some bizarre reason it doesn't you would need to get the dealer to sort it out (that was a dealer update).

I've no idea what you are referring to by "the latest entertainment software"?

ok its updated im on the 2023 v1 maps, Im dont know what AA/ACP stands for but its back at the dealer this week so ill press them to sort it. I thought the media software was being bought into the 2023s and had a update and better GUI, its rubbish compared to the 2023 models but hey ho. Thanks all again

AA = Android Auto; ACP = Apple Car Play; You should have both available as alternatives to Toyota Online Services ...

2023 models have entirely different hardware ... there's no software update to convert to the newer service.

final point from me i do have AA and ACP one come up as options when a phone is connected into the 1 port available under the console, ill get the dealer to check and update this as it happens. But suffice to say the USB formatted to FAT32 solved things thanks again everyone
