Hi All Roy here i have been following the forum for a number of weeks now and also read every review available on various sites you tube ect..on the corolla and that convinced me to buy one so i have had the car now about 2 weeks liking it a lot amazed at the ride quality with 18" wheels, i traded in a 2020 Ioniq 1st edition which i had for a couple of years, that was the economy king 65 - 70 mpg no problem the corolla comes close maybe a bit less showing 64mpg at the moment, ioniq had a firmer ride and not as premium inside it was also a bit jerky at times with the dual clutch, so looking forward to chipping in with questions and answers here 🙂

Hello and Welcome Roy,
I will be trading my Auris Hybrid in at some point, for a Corolla Estate. I'm tempted by the Excel trim, but a bit dubious about those big old 18" wheels making the ride bumpy. I notice you say the ride quality is good. is that just on smooth roads / motorway? Or have you been over pot holed roads and speed bumps? Thanks very much for any info you can give. Cheers, Mark

Hi Mark

I too i was a bit worried about the ride quality on those big wheels but honestly it's fine the corolla does not have a firm ride and is well damped, compared to the ioniq i had on 17" wheels this rides a lot better, even on speed bumps and on not so good roads it copes well of course there are disadvantages to low profile tyres but also one advantage is better road holding, i'm not keen on the Falkens and will swap them out when needed to Goodyear EG 2 's which should reduce the road noise which is okay most of the time just on heavy chip could be better, so i would say you will be happy with the ride quality the Excel also has better soundproofing than the lower models Acoustic glass and better engine insulation my wife and i really like this car.
