Stubby Aerial for 2006 model ?

Hi,

Need to replace the original long whip type aerial on our old Corolla and had thought about one of the 7" Stubby types but read some comment about they use an aerial preamplifier, assume thats fitted in the base mount ?

However no idea if our model has such an Aerial pre amp thats suitable for a Stubby ?

Appears you can now now get Shark type aerials that fit over the existing mount though no idea if they would also work or how good they are ?
