Hi All, need some solid advice again on my 2012 estima 2.4 hybrid... 86k miles  on the clock obviously 11 years old... Do i wait till 100k mikes like some threads say to perform cvt trans fluid and filter change or should i do asap, just concerned incase i get microscopic wear/damage inside the sealed unit... Thanks in advance

To me it appears genuine, the car has no wear anywhere, its like new since i got it, i have absolutely no reason to doubt the mileage.. so im very confident it is

Estima Hybrid don't have CVT gearbox.

This is pinned on Estima FB group.

Admins, please pin this post  to every one can find and READ!!
have seen a lot of discussions about hybrid gearbox type/spec and other info so  to stop given totally mess:

For all members ,once and forever,  Estima hybrid  2006-2018, Alphard 2009-2016 hybrid ,Vellfire 2009-2016 hybrid,DONT HAVE CVT GEARBOX!!!!! not 4 gears or speeds not 5 or 6 or 7  or even 1000!!!
gearbox on hybrid is 2 opposite electric motors and differential + planetary reduction gear and that's it!! below is pictures to prevent stupid comments and manipulations, especially for  estima club members i  divide hybrid gearbox to show what actually is inside and please stop post wrong info about hybrid gearbox!!!

Just to clarify about gearbox oil from same group:

estima hybrid dont have gearbox and especially  p311 lol.,you need AFT-WS fluid and only this fluid,FE is for different gearboxes,if you use any other oil apart of ATF-WS you will kill electric motors inside,as there is no gearbox but 2 opposite pasted electric motors and differential gear(1)

Both info are from Kaspars Krumins he knows his stuff.

Hope it helps.

wow amazing information @Beduin_that is a wealth of information you have passed me on and armed me with the correct advice on going forward, so al i need is ATF-WS fluid change, no filter change i assume... Does it matter at what stage this is done or based on this advice is it actually a  sealed for life unit indeed.. thanks a million by the way

Great info but dont assume everyone can get on the FB group. Because I dont play on FB very much at all, Admin would not allow me to join, heaven knows why but there you go.

Sorry folks i need to confirm if my 2.4L estima hybrid has trans fluid in rear motor and fluid in front axle motor too please? I have booked it in with Toyota for next week but they said only front axle motor has fluid and not the rear..is this correct guys or does both ends need to get a fluid replacement

The e-CVT is a gear driven Constantly Variable Transmission, It's just not a tradition CVT with a push belt

Quote

estima hybrid dont have gearbox and especially  p311 lol

They contradict their own information

Quote

gearbox on hybrid is 2 opposite electric motors and differential + planetary reduction gear

So it is a Gearbox

Here is the Cambridge Dictionary definition.

Gearbox - A metal box containing the gears in a vehicle

Constantly - all the time

Variable - likely to change

Transmission - the machinery that brings the power produced by the engine to the wheels of a vehicle:

the Hybrids use the P series gearbox, Non hybrid use the K series Aisin CVT or U series Auto

Hybrid Fluid, WS-ATF was used up to late 2011 it's the same front and rear - https://toyota-club.net/files/techdata/ttx/estima_20h.htm

It is only if you consider a differential a gearbox too; I'd argue the PSD (Power Split Device, to give it it's official name) has more in common with a differential than a traditional gearbox!

But this is all tangential semantics

Found loads of info on PSD transmission thanks. And thanks to everyone for their input

It's a box with gears in it, so it's a Gearbox by its definition, Power Split Device is just a way of transmitting the power from multiple devices aka a transmission or more commonly called a Gearbox that has a constantly variable Ratio, Ergo, a CVT
