Hiya , can anyone please give me any advice. I suspect that there's a radiator leak that's causing my car to cut power. I've been topping it up for a while n on long journeys the engine management light n eventually oil light too comes on then loses all power.

Process of elimination, serviced n checked oil , it's fine. Think I need a new radiator because the hybrid side of it has a leak that goes right through to the engine side of it ?

Where can I get a new radiator from?

It should be 2 different systems, what side are you refilling, left or right ? Is it leaking water and leaving a puddle ?? Or is it overheating and boiling ?

Edit. Same issue as last year ? What codes do you have ?

Well , it was mostly hybrid side to top up but both had lost fluid . No puddles . Must have lost it on the road under pressure. Yes , it only happens one or twice last year ,and once I put transmission fluid in it didn't really do it again until after I took it in for Mot. Not sure if they've done something ,but I do I know they damaged my sonar somehow when changing brakes n tyre because it's constantly on now at the back right side.

I got only a little way from Mot station n it happened again. Then it happened several times on long journey south to see family, mostly after driving for a long while or idling in traffic. And has happened more often on every long journey, where it's gotten to the point I can't use it it happens so much even when there's no apparent heat in the system , it's never boiled over n always can take cap off no real bother with boiling or steam .

It's now in England at a friend's garage. I told him you said it needs a good service so he's done that n there was a leak in the radiator after he changed all the fluids he pressure checked it and both sides were linked rather than them being separate systems ,so I think he's fixed that. It now seems to be holding water on short journeys. But I set off back to Scotland hoping that was everything better n I only got 20 miles on the motorway before the oil pressure light came on n everything died, which is pretty !Removed! scary on a motorway.

He's thinking maybe the oil pressure switch needs replacing. But he's tested it with multimeter and he's confused as to why it's always live.

He had a diagnostic dongle on yesterday n he said some codes came up that were mostly to do with ABS. I'll ask which codes they are .

oil pressure on the gearbox or the engine ? It's starting to sound electrical, does the car get used a lot or does it sit for weeks at a time ?

It was used daily until it broke down in England, I've not managed to get it home to Scotland yet . Been thinking it's the oil pressure switch, is it meant to be live constantly?

Is it fed with a constant live because its a pressure sender and its resistance varies? Or is it a basic switch to report low oil pressure?

If your friend has an oil pressure gauge maybe they could test the actual pressure which may confirm the engine oil pressure is ok?

Oil pressure on engine. Isn't that what the little red oil pressure can light means? That's what comes on before it dies every time.

Checked pressures, all ok.

That sounds good as its not major so hopefully just a faulty sensor 🫰

iirc there is another oil pressure switch on the gearbox oil pump also the electric water pump for the HV/heater due to its location these can have issues

does the heater get hot ?

electric water pump for ahr10 (87200-28130)
