Well the EPB has failed again ,46000 miles  one owner, full service ... you get the gist,.. unable to release the brake , AA came out and advised that actuater has failed , undid the brake using ,in the end , my cordless drill , freed off the brake . i drove to my trusted  independant garage  who advised the same fault trouble is toyota have these on back order until JULY  so i have to wait ... this is the 2nd replacement , the first done under warrantee, about 9yrs ago .  wondered if the new unit could be coated with lanoguard, or similar . thanks for your advice  the car is 2012 t27 estate ,petrol ,manual.

I hear a lot about the EPB on here. When I got my 2018 Avensis last January, (ex-lease), it was very noisy when working.  They replaced it under warranty no questions asked.. that was 50k miles. Not sure if it had a rough life of misuse over the first four years as a lease car, or if I can expect to replace it again soon if it gets noisy or ever stops working...  is it expensive to replace?  Interesting you had to have yours done under warranty too. I presumed Toyota would stock these if it's a common failure point. Surely they use a system found on all the other Toyota models, if not some other manufacturers too?

is there a way to by pass and map these out and just use them like a ordinary handbreak and only a push button one .im dreading if mine will go out soon this is why im half intrested in getting a  toyota rav 4 something like same engine as mine and pull handbeak plus i hope maybe comes with cheap tax id be tempted to get rid of my avensis . is there any such think as a 4x4 toyota rav 4 with a 1adftv 2.0 toyota engine with a 35 quid a year tax
