Is it fine to wear sunglasses?

Will this include night driving glasses at some stage as well.

UK drivers have been warned to take care over the types of sunglasses worn behind the wheel. Some sunglasses can cause glare when driving, and experts say some sunglasses may not be safe when travelling on roads.

According to the Highway Code, drivers must slow down - or stop if they need to do so - when dazzled by sunlight. And anyone failing to do so could be fined up to £5,000.

We have prescription sunglasses with polarised lenses - the polarisation reduces glare.

Think some non prescription, non polarised sunglasses would be at risk of not reducing glare.

As far as I'm aware the legislation just applies to sunglasses, rather than other types of specs - e.g. those intended for night driving.

I have never in 36 years of driving been blinded by anyone's sunglasses.

So going by the last part if you have an accident and say you had been blinded by the sunlight and they asked if you had been wearing sunglasses and you said yes, without knowing that this was an offence, would you face the £5000 fine and how would this affect any insurance claim.
