Toyota RAV4 2.5 VVT-h Design CVT Euro 6 (s/s) 5dr for sale at Listers Toyota Coventry (Ref: 046/U159634)

I got 27k in trade in for it 🤣

It's in good condition, I looked after it well, never abused it, and it often got E5 in it.

Its firs service was done August 2022 at 5616 miles.

I put a new air filter on it in May at 10k, cos I don't beleive in this leave it for 40k thing.

It also got a full four wheel alignment in April.

One of the front fog bulbs had blown and I couldn't be bothered to replace it, but I did leave the silvered indicator bulbs in so it looks clean.

I think it's a bit overpriced at £33.5 even with low mileage but it would be a good buy.

Hi Guy,

Nice car and I like the colour, £33,500 does sound a bit to much but I suppose that's the strength of the used car market. Blimey if I had that much money to spend on a car I would get a new filling at our local dentist.😅

That's a mighty filling :)

Most(?) people finance their cars on credit deals (PCP, HP, PHP) rather than cash outright.

Surely it should have had its first service in 21 irrespective of mileage. Maybe they would have paid you more trade in if it had been serviced on time.

Sorry just looked at your car ad and I see the car is a 21 reg not 20 as in your signature.

That's 'cos Guy's new car is older than his old one ... you're not keeping up Ron ... 😉

Yes it was an Aug 21 delivery so first service aug 22.

I did go a year older in the replacement but it was worth it, car is mint now and under the 5 year warranty as was, and then up to 10.

I was able to see it before it was prepped and apparantly the previous owner backed into something in his garage.  He'd cracked the bumper and the nearside light clusters, so they were replaced, plus the windscreen had a chip so that was replaced, cost a grand for that.  So I ended up with a mint car, even at 3 years old.

They also made a mistake a did a major service when they only needed to do a minor.

Maybe that's why they put the price so high, they've had to spend a good £2.5k on bits

The mark up is 25%.  My Corolla, similar age and history was also marked up by 25%.

As it happens I have just been offered a trade in deal for my Yaris Cross for March 24 when it will be 18 months old.  Same deal as before with level payment as I have at the moment.  Given a potential 25% markup I told him he has plenty of wriggle room on price.

I've just clocked they've put the Listers transfer sticker back onto the rear screen, I'd taken it off as soon as I got the car and I'll be taking it off the Excel when I get the time.

How are you finding the difference from Design to Excel and 2WD to AWD-i?  Most importantly, are you enjoying the new car better than the old?

Having driven both 2wd and awd now, I think all RAVs should be awd.  It gets power down where the 2wd would spin far too easily.  That could partly be the crappy Dunlops on the 2wd but I think it is more all the electric torque going through the front wheels.

As for trim, yes it's nice to have leather and a few more toys but it was really the awd that swung it, and the striking colour.  I do like that the driver's seat has lumbar support though.  That said if I had bought my Design as an awd I wouldn't have been looking to change it, as I solved that issue with a 10 quid back brace off eBay.

I also like that as 20 plate the Excel still has 18inch wheels and a spare, I actually prefer the 18s to the 19s.

Bwaaa I wish my Mk4 had lumbar support - My lower back was nearly crippled every time I got out until I started wadding up a towel and jamming it behind me!

Hmm, I wonder if a RAV4 seat would be compatible... :naughty:

What about one of those miniature travel pillows?

Maybe small enough to give support without pushing your back too far forward.

I have to remove the extra cushions from my Aygo owning friend's sofa as they push my back too far out, she reckons it's because my legs are too long.

I was looking at such things but the big fluffy towel has worked well and is easy to reshape on a whim. It's also handy when someone who totally wasn't me gets caught out in a T-shirt in a rain storm and gets soaked - Douglas Adams was right on the money when he said a Towel is the most useful thing a traveller can have

I really don't understand 2WD for SUV's. I need ground clearance, wheel arch space and 4WD to get any chance of mobility in the winter even without considering the occasional need to off road. I have noticed recently however how poor the energy consumption is with 4WD electric cars as opposed to their 2WD versions, so I can see that people are maybe just going for the lifestyle look rather than the actual lifestyle realisation.

I can imagine you guys packing for a road trip.

Toothbrush, check.

Toothpaste, check.

All-purpose fluffy towel, check.

😁

To be a really together person. Any person who can struggle against terrible odds, win through, and still know where their towel is is clearly a person to be reckoned with.

I bought a 2WD RAV4 for the ease of getting in and out after an injury, plus the additional rear space over my C-HR was really useful. I didn't go for the 4WD as I couldn't justify the additional cost, although I must admit that the extra grip when pulling out from side roads etc would be useful.

The problem with the 4WD BEVs seems to be that they come with additional horsepower that is just too addictive for drivers to resist.

I appreciate ease of entry and exit must be a huge factor for some people Colin, didn't occur to me before. You're right about 4WD BEVs and their immense horsepower, however Toyota seem to be the exception with the BZ offering.

Turning onto a road on our industrial estate the other day I underestimated the speed of the driver on the side of the road I was joining. A quick blast of the accelerator sorted that but not without some tyre squeal from the unloaded inner rear tyre.

First time that has happened in 32K plus miles - I'm going to miss that power 😂.

For a big heavy car the acceleration is very good as is the passing acceleration, 40-60mph or 50-70mph..
