Doesn't happen very often but the other day I wanted to listen quietly to the radio with the drivers front door open but couldn't because of the door open warning beep. Anyone know if the warning beep can be temporarily switched off?

Just press the door switch in on the door pillar black rubber on the left as you open door (drivers Door).

Thanks but when I say temporarily I mean half an hour or so.

Aside from doing something like taping over the door switch, no.

Listening  radio in acc mode not really recommended because of the 12v Battery drain.. If you would like to do that you can in ready mode in P and if you are seated in the drivers seat there won’t be any buzzer active,  only if you select D or R.

How many batteries are there? I know, obviously, there's the hybrid Battery that drives the electric motor, there's also a Battery under the bonnet that looks like a pretty standard sized car Battery to me. Surely that could drive the media screen and bits and bobs for ages without a problem? It's just that I've never had to worry about accessories or the media system flattening the battery before.

(I know I'm going to be wrong here but please explain)

Radio will switch off after 10 to 15 minites to preserve Battery power if you want to use radio for longer just put car into ready mode.

Its all down to miles covered againts stop start you can just cycle the car back on in acc mode but dont do it more than once I recomend having a voltage monitor pluged in so you know what the Battery voltage is then decide on starting the car in P mode instead of leaving it in acc mode.

Yes, two batteries and the small one although may look the size of any other car Battery it is only 45Ah, and definitely won’t last long if used in acc mode regularly. As mentioned above the car will switch off all consumables after around 30 min , but if you keep doing it may affect your 12v Battery performance.

Ok  thanks for all the advice.

Just as a side question, and I appreciate I'm probably years out of date here - are modern engines / systems ok leaving the ignition on? I seem to remember that doing so could burn out the coil or something.

Fred. Your memory was right I believe.  I can't speak for conventional engines but the Toyota  hybrid is intended to leave the 'ignition' on.

Except that it is not ignition but systems ready.  The hybrid Battery will top up the 12v as required.   The system,  in Ready mode, will start the engine as required so as to maintain the HV Battery

Actually mine was 35Ah and was replaced under warranty with 42Ah.

Helpful, thanks. Glad I hadn't imagined the coil burning out!
