2012 Avensis multimedia

My bluetooth failed and the main dealer said I could either pay £500 or choose to have either the SatNav or phone. I chose the phone. I have been able to source a replacement and want to fit it myself. The removal looks straightforward but have couple of questions.

I assume that I should disconnect the Battery. yes/no?

I believe that the later Toyotas incl my 2012 Avensis do not have a radio code. Is that right?

I have a 2015 of that model and there isn't a radio code on mine.

I have a complete replacement unit from a written off Avensis of the same age, so the fittings and connections should be the same.
