Got a bit of a shock today, as to how conservative the girl left indicator is. Did more miles than usual this week, and fuel low light came on, and it appeared I had 25miles left. Filled up, but tank only took 37l, when I was expecting more to go in. Tank is 47 l, according to manual, so I had around 10l left or a couple of gallons, giving me a range of approx 100 miles at my av fuel consumption of 60 mpg. Anyone else seen this. Fuel gauge was above reserve mark.

Yes, pretty much par for the course with Toyotas. Over the years we've had an Auris, Avensis, C-HR and a Corolla and they would all show 'empty' with a couple of gallons left in the tank. It's perhaps more noticeable with the hybrids as their fuel tanks tend to be smaller in the first place.

Thanks. It's reassuring that there is a decent amount of fuel in. Won't get so anxious if looking to fuel up. Out of interest, is around 60mpg avarage, a decent fuel consumption in these cars. I do mainly a mixture of motorway, a and b roads every day. Car usually powered by Battery on b roads and at times on the motorway when I'm cruising and ease off throttle.

Which engine? My wife tends to average high 50s MPG with hers (1.8 engine) but she is quite lead-footed! I don't often drive her C-HR but when I do I average perhaps low 60s.

Look in the full owners manual for 'warning lights' and 'low fuel light', and it will say approx how much fuel is remaining when the low fuel light comes on.

1.8 engine.

I'll have a look in the manual.

@Penfold72I get high 50's low 60's on average in my 2.0 C-HR.

I had a similar experience in my previous 2.0 C-HR Dynamic with the reserve tank. This seems to be perfectly normal for Toyota.
