RAV4 2012 gear knob - 6 speed

Hi. My wife's excellent 2012 RAV4 needs a replacement gear knob. In desperation I've tried various eBay £10-20 copies, as attached, but all work loose after a month or two. Please can someone advise on the best solution, or recommend the best supplier of a good quality replacement, or an affordable original?

Local diy merchant and buy a tube of resin adhesive.

self mixing and sets rapidly.

you won't get that off in a hurry again.

Thanks Terry. I'm assuming I may need to replace the replacement again in a couple of years - !! - so would prefer to find a suitable screw-on / tighten / screw-off solution.

Is this threaded on the stick and inside the gearknob?

If so that would indicate that the eBay copies are not of sufficient quality to hold a thread.

Have you tried OEM or breakers for a used one?

Why not use something like thread tape to tighten the new gear nob onto the stick or thread glue if the fit is tight enough?

I have put threaded bolts into a wall and wanted to get them out again. Very stiff to turn and get going but the metal thread cuts the resin an comes out again. Not saying it is easy to remove but how often do you need to remove a gearstick knob.

Had this problem before with other cars and it is very annoying.
