err thanks Ryan,

I have to add though that Tuesday mornings are the best days for me to try this as I'm not at work and I don't claim to know everything and I can't guarantee 100% accuracy, but of course I'll do my best. :)

sooo close :D

Answer's I found were....

Sakichi Toyoda (1894-1952) invented the automatic loom in 1925, and a year later formed the Toyoda Automatic Loom Works Ltd. The company diversified into cars and the first Toyoda car was produced by Kiichiro Toyoda (son) in 1935. The name of the company was changed to Toyota Motor Company in 1937.

The family changed the nake to Toyota since "Toyoda" needs ten characters in Japanese but "Toyota" only eight. And eight is the Japanese lucky number!

In July 1936, it was decided that the cars produced by TALW would be marketed

under the name "Toyota." The name was chosen because it sounded better than

Toyoda, the katakana characters used to represent it were more asthetically

pleasing and consisted of eight strokes, a lucky number, and because the

character was similar to the one representing growth. The Toyota Motor Co.,

Ltd. (TMC) was formed on August 28, 1937.

Another Question:

Where, what year & which model was the first to be made outside japan?

hey, I wasn't far out! depends on how specific you want your answers to be

"Kiichiro Toyoda was the founder and the name was changed for phonetic reasons being easier to write, pronounce and remember"

Kiichiro Toyoda being the founder of the Toyota Motor Company, Sakichi Toyoda being founder of the earlier Toyoda Loom Works Limited, from which TMC sprang
