Retrofitting a reverse camera

I am thinking of fitting a wireless reversing camera and lookin for guidance.

Many for sale show the camera mounted outside the sar at the rear, bumper or rooftop. Do these cameras not work so well inside the car behind a sloping rear screen?

I am not sure about the mounting and whether a camera view in the rear view mirror id not distrating?

I get the positive pickupfrom the reversing light to show revwesw=e view buthow does that differ from rear view; is it a magnified view?

Any experiences of fitting these gadgets will be appreciated.

I fitted one to an Auris I used to have.  This is the one that I used and it was very reliable for the five years that I had it: https://www.amazon.co.uk/AUTO-VOX-Reversing-Waterproof-Assistance-Installation/dp/B07425TPBT/ref=sr_1_15?keywords=reverse%2Bcamera&qid=1689455787&sprefix=reverse%2B%2Caps%2C80&sr=8-15&th=1

Its better to fit the camera outside the car for a better view of how close you are to things when reversing.  You can feed the camera wire through the registration plate light hole and mount the camera just above the registration plate.

The monitor can be mounted on top of the dash or wherever you prefer.

As you said, the power supply is picked up from the reversing light.
