If you have the Excel trim on the 18-inch wheels with 50-profile tyres, then, yes, on my local roads (yours may be better - that wouldn't be difficult!) you will feel the jolts and thumps from the potholes and other road imperfections. I changed the 18-inch wheels for 3rd-party 16-inch wheels with 65-profile tyres, and the bump absorption is much improved

Or perhaps re check tyres pressure on cold.
Dealers in Uk tend to fail to set the correct  pressures on PDI and deliver cars to customers with well over inflated tyres., could be as much as double.
Best way to check tyres pressure is first thing in the morning before you drive off and before the sun sees the car. These two are ultra important otherwise you won’t get real results and likely to off set the pressures again.
A good quality gauge is also important. Michelin does some of the best in the business. If I have t buy mystery one I will likely buy this below:

I’ve got the AWD on 18 inch wheels (multi link rear suspension) and it just right in my opinion but it depends what you’ve come out of.

It may also be the suspension setup - Mine is really weird; If I hit a speed hump at 15-20mph it's like having being kicked up the bum.

If I hit it at 5-12 it's okay.

But if I hit it at 30mph (Thank you whatever moron thought putting speed bumps on the A10, a major arterial road, for giving me the opportunity to involuntarily find this out) then it somehow feels less impactful than if I hit it at 20!

I can only assume it's something to do with how the dampers are tuned, as I've heard this from GR Yaris owners too, that at low speed the car is very rough and jittery on bad roads, but at speed it seems to absorb bumps much better!

If you haven't checked the tyre pressures since picking it up from the dealer, make that the first thing you do tho' - I was given mine with them all over 4 bar - That's over 60psi!!

I find it more comfortable than my RAV4 PHEV - and so are the seats.

I have the design model with 17inch wheels.  No complaints about the suspension, tyres or the ride in general.
