Just use on normal, pressing power mode and watching the screen turn red means I’ll burn in hell….

Short trips do hamper it a bit - The car definitely gets better mpg once the engine and oil all hit operating temperature. It has the same problem as my old diesel in that, if you're driving it gently, it can take a relatively long time for it to get to that point, so if the trip isn't long enough for it to run at operating temperature for long, it can't show off its full potential.

It's one of the slightly odd things I found on my old diesel, and also this, in that driving a bit more... enthusiastically :naughty: , doesn't affect the mpg much, or can even increase it, because the engine gets to operating temperature much faster :naughty:

Do you guys drive in eco mode, normal or sport ?

Normal mode. When I first got the car and faffing about with all the buttons I must have turned on 'Power' mode without realising because I thought the red dash was normal.. xD

I did a trip to work on Eco mode and it made diddly squat difference to my MPG, but thats primarily motorway driving which is probably why.

They just change the accelerator pedal response/feel, but don't really change anything else - e.g. Eco mode doesn't limit the available power; I can accelerate off the line just as fast in Eco mode as I can in Power mode :naughty:

I tend to stay in Eco mode as it allows more low-speed finesse - Handy for low speed manoeuvres! But I found when the car is fully loaded with people, I can put it in Normal and the car feels like it does in Eco so I don't feel like I'm having to put more pedal effort in

When I had the puma it had several modes, normal, sport  eco, slippery and trail, I only used normal and sport and once or twice slippery in winter, in sport the dials turned red , I think it must have mapped the engine differently to give slightly more power…I only do 9 miles to work , will this affect economy much..?

Eco mode also changes how the AC acts a bit. That might be the bigger difference to how it drives 😄

Aye, it puts it in Eco mode, but there is a button on the HVAC that you can toggle the Eco mode whatever driving mode you're in. Mine's set up to stay in Eco mode all the time, although TBH I can't tell if it makes any difference.

As far as I can tell, the only noticeable difference is it runs the fans at a lower speed!

New legislation will make it compulsory that when the power button is pressed in a car, a picture of Greta thunberg appears on the central screen wagging a finger at you…

I was surprised (but pleased) to have a temperature gauge again after the RAV4 PHEV. It gets to operating temperature at about 1 1/2 miles.

Mine is similar, although in winter I've been able to get half-way to work before it got to operating temperature!

(Or if I'm stuck in particularly heavy traffic, have the heater on and it's a very cold day, it sometimes never reaches operating temperature before I get to my destination! :crybaby: )
