Replacement engine

My RAV4 has had the dreaded head gasket failure and I am going to replace the engine. All going smoothly but having difficulty sourcing a 2009 RAV4 engine from the breakers. Would a similar coded engine (2AD - FTV) with 136 bhp from a Corolla fit?  I am only interested in the long block.

Thanks!

It's not worth the hassle there a minute changes between cars what will drive you crackers, if a 2.2 is in a breaker with not much damage it going to have engine issues - skim the head and put a new timing kit, water pump on it and send the injectors out for testing

I'm not sure that I understand the question (and pretty sure that I couldn't help much if I did) ...

You don't specify which engine you have in your 2008 RAV4 - is it the 2.2 136 bhp diesel? (and not the D-CAT?)

You then suggest that you are looking to source a 2009 RAV4 engine ... is this in the vain hope of finding one that was "fixed in production" before the engine was significantly revised in 2010?

Mine is a 2008 RAV4. The engine is the 2.2 diesel d4d. My research suggests that Toyota sorted the problem with cars from 2009 onwards, tho’ later dropping the 2.2 for the 2.0 litre.
Skimming the heads is not an option for me. I have been fairly lucky in the past with replacements engines having successfully put ones in a Porsche and later Nissan xtrail. This time I thought I would try a Toyota!?!

I believe the RAV4 shares some of its engines with the Avensis and Lexus 200; I know of the DCAT. Not sure about the 130-ish.
