Still working things out with my cross, can’t seem to get an alert with the traffic sign assist, it turns red if I exceed the limit but no warning chime!!, I’d like to have an audible reminder if I go over the limit, can this be done somewhere in the menu?, also, trying to send a location from my phone to the car it’s saying I need to set it up in the car, the app shows four different types of touchscreen but I’m not sure which is mine ( excel with city pack) and it says to set up on the info display but there’s no set up button!, I assume this will do the remote starting as well?, anyone any ideas?

Don’t think it gives you an alert certainty doesn’t on the corolla funnily enough it did with the auris voice said “you are over the speed limit”

Are you sure?? Even if you obey the speed limit like a saint it'll be bonging all the time, esp. if you get that bug where it gets confused with mph and kph!!

Could be worse... my friend had an angry german woman voice for his GPS he loved winding us up with, I can just hear it yelling something like  "NEIN! NEIN! NEIN! SPEED VERBOTEN!"

I had an angry German woman in a gasthaus, German b&b , shouting "das rad sthet auf dem kliedershrank" , although quite how saying "the bicycle stands above the wardrobe" assists in checking in is beyond me.

Also the doppelganger mit spiegelei on the menu puzzled me somewhat.

I had a cam Warner on a satnav, we nicknamed her Brunhilda.

"Slow down you are exceeding the speed limit"

In English with a heavy accent

I find the sat nav voice very polite, says “ please turn left” not, “ turn left now” as in the ford

Short answer no audible warning for exceeding the speed limit signed on my Yaris either.

Busted 😄, although it’s hard to balance it on your knees whilst driving and holding your can of lager

Be thankful it's not the 'bong' you get on certain American cars.

Bong! You have put the key into the door lock.

Bong! You have opened the door.

Bong! You have sat in the drivers seat.

Bong! But you haven't closed the door yet.

Bong! You have successfully closed the door.

Bong! But you haven't put your seatbelt on.

Bong! Congratulations you have put the seatbelt on.

Silence.

Bong! You have put the key in the ignition.

Bong! You have started the car.

Bong! You have put the car into drive.

Bong! But the handbrake is on.

At this point must drive to the nearest gun shop and shoot the dashboard.

You must set it in the menu! It's disabled by default, but it can do it.

Oh gawd, not delving into the menu, I’m scared I’ll alter the orbit of a passing satellite…..

I have the opposite problem. In my RZ the default is ‘visual & audible’ and I have to delve in the menu every drive to turn the audible off. Another ‘bong’ the RZ is when the driver isn’t looking dead ahead - so when approaching a junction you look to see if traffic is approaching a bong goes off and the dash lights up with a “Driver Inattention” warning !

As always, legislators need to stay the hell out of design.

"Just because you can, doesn't mean you should."

I think the manufacturers take the blame for all the ‘nanny’ systems - strangely I am told most of these systems are as a result of EU requirements but we aren’t in the EU and our cars are configured the same as say Japan so why we don’t adopt their standards rather than the EU’s I have no idea. Just wait until the EU’s mandate for cars to be automatically limited to traffic sign limits is enforced - the Audi’s will be back-ending no end of cars when they brake suddenly when entering a 30 or more likely 20 limits.

The EU can disappear. I'll refrain from ranting.

I agree with you on your other points.
