I have been quoted £2000 to replace electric tailgate struts on my 2013 RAV 4 - they keep jamming.
there seems to be parts on eBay that are compatible, Will these work or does anyone have another cheaper solution?

Guessing, but if the struts have been bent slightly that might be the cause.  If you just need new struts £1,000 each is silly money.

That said, the hood motor on my Escort failed and the price about 15 years ago was £1 018+vat + labour.  My garage, Mercedes specialists fixed it for £18; it needed a new washer.

Try and get a second opinion from a real garage mechanics.

That’s right , second opinion and research online for solution, Google, YouTube, can be some information and easy diy fix.

One thing to try first is to lubricate the hinges with wd-40 and open and close few times. This may help.
I never worked on automated hatchback doors but on regular ones on all Toyota cars the hinges get dried after even only 2 years and the door becomes ultra difficult to move. If this happens on automated doors the system might tricks itself that something got stuck or hit a person and stop closing. Try this first and let us know. If t works you can properly lube with thin oil afterwards. Spray here where the arrows are. image.thumb.jpeg.ca3b44d16306c57d38872834f4c1f565.jpeg
Good luck
