The most annoying thing?

Nearly 3 months since new and very happy how things are going. Only annoying thing is on hilly ground after a long climb comes the long descent. It tends to start the petrol side of things with very high revving. When you eventually reach the bottom of the hill, a quick press on the accelerator and everything back to normal. Don't use "accessories" as the once I did, a very short time later "low battery" warning appeared.

After donkeys years on manuals, it definitely is a new experience, and one I hasten to add, I'm really enjoying.

Not a Hybrid, but a Multidrive c.v.t. shows a similar charateristic. If the brakes are applied on a long, steep descent, the ratio changes lower to try and engine brake with a resulting massive increase in r.p.m..

When possible I change to "manual" and take over without the resulting screaming and tortured engine.

Toyota hybrids does that high revving thing at the end of the hill descend , sometimes they can do after you have come to a complete stop at the traffic light and suddenly the engine starts and revs up high, sometimes when you finish descending and driving on flat road and you have just filled up your Battery from going downhill.
This is a unique future to all Toyota hybrids and it is to discharge the hybrid Battery to more appropriate levels. If the Battery soc reaches 80% the engine will kick in to discharge it to lower percentage, max 78% for example.
With the car gets older 10+ years and 200000 miles on average +/- 50k miles the car starts to behave like that more often and sometimes even after short descend the engine will scream high. Just a typical Toyota hybrid behaviour. 👍

Just something for most other drivers to get used to. A safety/maintenance feature I would think.
