oil leak from turbo

Hi to everyone ,im looking for some help on an issue with a verso trend D4D 2015 plate which i purchased from a trader approx 12 months ago. After buying the car there was a few issues with it the main one being an oil leak which the trader had it taken to several garages & i was messed about a lot, anyway he said the problem was identified as a leak with the oil cooler which was done towards the end of september last year & i had the car back expecting no further leaking issues the trader did say he would whattsapp me the photos of the repair & copy of invoice this never happened & to be honest i forgot about it & didnt chase this up .

So i did not notice anything else for a while as it been parked up on the front for a good while feb to may this year as i broke a bone in my shoulder in feb so couldnt drive for 6 weeks anyway & was driving my daughters car from march then had an operation on my leg in april which stopped me from driving for 2 weeks so only noticed there was still an oil leak problem when i drove the verso again in may & noticed oil on the floor when i pulled off/on the front.

So as i was messed about by the dealer initially & there is a 12 month rac warranty which i insisted on when i bought the car i took it to an rac warranty approved garage in birmingham in early june. Well they looked at it & informed me that there were leaks coming from the seal around the turbo & from the sump but a botch job has been done on this recently as there was silicone around the seals on the turbo & the oil sump & if it did break down due to the oil leak problem the rac would not cover the cost of the work as due to the silicone it shows that someone has worked on the problem recently albiet doing a substandard job on the car & they said its a big job to be done correctly as to seal the turbo correctly it involves the engine being taken out & put back in again & would cost upwards of £1,000 but it will have to go back to the garage that did this work in september.

So i contacted the trader again made him aware of the ongoing issue & what the garage had told me so he arranged for the car to go back to the garage well they confirmed they did the oil cooler as it was leaking but denied doing any siliconing anywhere & had spoken to the trader & informed him & myself that they were not equipped/prepared to take on the work required , the trader then had me take the car to another garage 2 weeks ago who said they could do the work on the sump but were not equipped/prepared to take on the turbo.

The trader said he would find a garage who could do the work & would be in touch, so as he had not been back in touch i phoned him on monday & he said he was waiting to hear back from a garage that may be able to do the work  & would call me back, but despite leaving him several messages he has not got back to me so im asking if he cannot get a garage to do this work has anyone had the same issues & where in the birmingham/west midlands area is there a garage who will take this work on & any idea of the cost of this work?

Hi Edward,

It's a bit of a difficult one but have you looked through the terms and conditions of the warranty to see if the turbo is covered.

I came across a link regarding RAC Warranty and whist it's a few years old it's worth a read for you to check out what's covered,
