Replacing the radio with a newer one

Hey, someone replaced the radio in Toyota Verso 2010 with newer original ones from Verso from 2015-2017.  exactly I mean the radio with the number 86140-0f090.  From what I can see the plugs match, depends on the original radio

I tried to do this on my 2013 Verso and got everything working apart from the reverse camera. After getting a lot of help from a member, I gave up and sold the radio. Btw the plugs for me were not the same for me as my car has 16pin connection whereas the radio had 24 or 28pin

@zelda89

Thank you for your answer you probably meant that plug I marked in the picture. At my place it also actually has 20 pin instead of 24 like in the new radio. How did you deal with it did you buy an adapter or convert the plug to 24 pin? From what I checked this plug is responsible for steering wheel control (louder, quieter, factory camera.).
Second question
Did your original hands-free system work with the new radio? From what I see here the plug is the same 8 pin on the old and new radio.
Thanks in advance for your help

I bought 2 cables I think, one had 16 pin and the other 24pin. So rather than tampering with my 16pin wires in the car, I created an adapter which meant matching the wires from 16 to 24pin.

Connectors are not an issue as you can buy them

the problem is the touch2 it expects to see a can bus signal from the ecu for some functions including Reverse, the older radios use a 12v for reverse, but on later models this is disabled

2 solutions,

1. Hack the QNX system that is highly locked down

2. scan the can bus for the message packet(s) and build an emulator (been here, done that and got the tee shirt)

this is just one of many can dump's, note this is a filtered list

@flash22This sounds all too technical for me hence why I gave up on the idea 🙂
