Factory Fitted Stereo Cut's Out

I have A 2000 Avensis CDX with a Factory Fitted Sony WX-C570R Stereo installed. The trouble is that when head the unit gets hot (in hot or cold weather) the unit cuts out and switches itself off. Even the clock goes blank. The unit stays switched off for about 2 minutes.

When the unit comes back on again all of the pre set radio stations are still tuned in but the clock often resets it's self to 0:00. The radio on the unit is then the only thing that plays until it cuts out again about 5 minutes later.

When the unit immediately comes back on again it plays fine.

Has anybody else experienced this? Can anyone suggest a solution?

sounds like a bad connection somewhere, take it out n look for lose wires, dont think it would over heat, more like a dodgy plug or sumin, maybe the preveos owner had another stereo fitted and didnt replce it to well when they came to sell it
