Hi all.:driving:

Seeing as the C-HR does not have a spare wheel off any kind what about Runflat tyres.

Now I know they are fitted to some off the Lexus range in 18 inch wheels on the UX and were fitted to the IS300H models to name but several.

Now it seems rather strange that the C-HR and the Corolla do not get them not even as a option.🙁

Cost I know is dearer but at least you can still drive with a flat tyre even if it is only for 50 miles and at 50mph (these figures are what I have read and may vary).

Any thoughts on this from forum members.

That's an option I never considered. It might be something worth looking into 👍

Hi all.:driving:

Bob, yes I think it is worth a look if tyres are wearing out even better.

I've just done a quick Interweb search and found some Continental PremiumContact 6 (225/45 w 19) Tyres, which will fit the GR Sport, for £221.99

Hi all.:driving:

Bob.  That does not seem to bad I alas do not know the price for tyres for the C-HR as iam used to buying 225/40/18 Y for is 250.

But have just seen them on Blackcircles for £215.34 for run flat and normal are £186.50 Contact 6 both types.

Seems to me like a no brainer if you need to replace all 4 tyres cheaper that way than paying for a spare wheel and tyre.😊

I hadn’t thought of run-flat tyres as an option.  In considering the pros of this option, it did make me wonder: “In the case of a serious sudden deflation, would a run-flat tyre be more likely to protect the alloy wheel rim from probable extensive damage?.  if the answer is positive, then it adds credence to going down the run-flat route. Avoidance of the need to replace the alloy wheel is a definite cost saving.

Run flat tyres are simply full stop 🛑

I will highly recommend to anyone to avoid even looking at these especially when their cars aren’t coming from factory fitted with any of these run flats and if it comes best option to replace with standard touring tyres when the time for new tyres comes.
The reason is obvious: Run flat tyres introduce more nvh to the cabin, increase fuel consumption, and  in an event of a puncture they does not work always,  most of the cars I seen on motorway with tyre issues are exactly those low profile run flat tyres.
There are dozens complaints from ux owners about these type of tyres., also complaints from other car manufacturers and tons of bad reviews on tyres review website. You don’t want them on your hybrids for sure.

Thanks @TonyHSD. My car and tyres are only three months old, so no tyre replacement necessary as yet.

Thanks for the info, Tony.  Didn’t realise run flats had such a poor performance.  I’ll steer clear of them.
