Charging system with triangle

Hi all

I am having the charging system message with a beep on my auris 1.33 2011 if I leave the car on the ignition bit (no engine running)

Once i start the engine it goes and doesn't return.

 

Is this normal to say that the alternator isn't running and that it's just running off the Battery as the engine ain't running?
