Current Yaris Cross specifications?

I am assuming these are currently as per Toyota UK website. It's just I was watching a review on You Tube of the Design model and it talked about adding a safety pack with blind spot monitoring. Then somebody said it must have been the Dynamic model. With the current range it would appear that some of the earlier versions have been removed or downgraded in that you can't add packs to them. Is this the case? I really wanted 17" wheels and blind spot monitoring but these variations no longer seem possible. It only seems possible on the Excel with the City Pack and then you have to have 18" wheels.

I'm wondering whether to wait and see if there is a facelift model out soon of the Cross with different variants.

The new Yaris premiere will come with 130hp for order from sept. Naturally will assume it will also be rolled out to the cross in due course. Would wait till sept and see the official lineup.

These goodies will always be offered on the top spec trims on any Toyota model and sadly these comes with low profile tyres as standard. By default it is easier to change wheels and tyres sets on later date after purchase of this is must have than intervening with the car electronics and adding additional safety futures  🫢

No issues with 18 inch wheels on Excel.

I bought into the myth 18 hard and noisy.   All I can say is 'not in my opinion'.

205/65R16 is a far more comfortable tyre size than 215/50R18.

Even 215/55R17 would be a noticeable improvement in comfort.

However, 215/50R18 does have over 4" of sidewall height, so it's not going to be terrible.

Not terribly bad but noticeably worse than 17 or 16” for sure.
However the tyres are also a factor. Good quality tyres like Goodyear that comes with some X’s will be better than other brands because these are made with comfort in mind and has very sift side walls that absorb cracks and potholes like no other brands. Another factor is the test drive experience. These are usually a short drive of excitement and often can’t add real judgement about how the car feels and perform. A driver needs more time and involvement in more situations to make a real picture. Either way they are 50 ratio so not too bad indeed, although the 17” imo are the best suited for this car same as they are 16 for the normal Yaris.

or with GR with the supposedly stiffer suspension.

Sitting in the front passenger seat this morning driving at only 60mph on motorway, and what I did note was the wind noise generated from the door mirror. Now if the wind noise was bothering me, what does that say about the 18" tyres? TBH I never even noticed any tyre noise.

About the GR version, the suspension it’s not necessary stiffer than the other models, it’s just lower by 2cm. I had researched that as eventually future purchase if I can’t get a Corolla and the GR Yaris X matches my preference of all trim levels and particularly the seats and steering wheel upholstery. The tyres are the best one too👌 What not to like, ok 18” but because the wheels looks good 😊 I can live with that size, but if I can’t I have my wheels from my Auris which are exact fit to the Yaris and wouldn’t mind swapping them on.

That's a new one on me. I've read all sorts, Toyota themselves simply say 're-tuned'.

Whatever they've done, I was expecting the car to perhaps rattle my dentures a little when going over uneven roads or potholes - not a bit of it. This is the first time I've ever drove a GR Sport X. One of these days I'll write up my initial thoughts but the tyres/suspension has surprised me. No complaint whatsoever.

Agreed. I’m on 18s and the ride is spot on.  Of course if you’ve been in a dreadful Vauxhall or Peugeot it’s going to feel a bit firm.  Who’s been in a Mini?  Flippin appalling.  Not been in anything as bad since a 1969 Foden.  How anybody can like such things I’ll never know.  Doesn’t help because I spent most of my youth lay under the original version so reinventing them was counterintuitive to me.

As above, noting the AWD version has the more sophisticated rear suspension that improves with time.

My previous Lexus cars all had AVS that was butter smooth on the crap uk highways .

My AWD was initially almost too firm but over the last few weeks has become more refined.

Converted to a 2 seater recently & was impressed how refined it was with the rear seats down.
