We’re well into holiday time. Let’s see some pics of your Toyotas on holiday. Here’s my TS GR Sport through a gate in St. Andrews.

Here is a photo of Grace on holiday with us in Roker. She's parked outside the Airbnb we rented for the week.

Sadly, Grace is no longer with us, as we had to part exchange her when we bought Charlotte (who hasn't been away on holiday with us yet). I am however, pleased to announce that Grace has now been adopted by a new family.

How long have you been naming your cars?

For quite a while now. A lot of my cars have had names, but not all.

Only ever named one, years ago.  It was an oldish Peugeot-Talbot motor caravan which we used for towing our touring caravan.  It had orange paintwork, and we named it “The Orange Peril”.   Other than that, we don’t name inanimate objects.

I had one of those Albert.

1986 Talbot with the auto sleeper body.

Mind you it was getting on for 30 years old when I got it.

I am assuming yours was a diesel with you towing, but you never know.

Mine had the 2 litre petrol engine.

The biggest problem with it was constant knocks on my house door, and unsavoury looking folk enquiring "are you selling the orld van now?"

Most of them peered through my front window within seconds of knocking,or even before.

Lordy knows how they spotted it,as I live on a small block end close.

Paul, our “orange peril” was an Autosleepers conversion, and even older than yours, and was a 2-litre petrol engine. Surely you can remember the horrors of hanging the spark plugs?  Each one down a deep tube which (I think) passed through the rocker cover for the OHV assembly.

Ah petrol 2 litre, sorry I wrongly assumed diesel for the towing.

Those auto sleepers interiors were pretty good for the age I think.

Most of mine still worked ok, fridge, central heating, cooker etc.

The water boiler needed a new part of some kind, can't remember which one.

The biggest pain was priming the water pump for the taps from the slowly leaking tank.

Didn't change the spark plugs though,as once I did the oil change and points plus bypassing the temp sensor for the fan and installed a switch, the engine ran fine.

Needed a new leisure Battery and starter Battery , and the usual rust on the scuttle and doors on the Talbot bit was patched up as best I could.

The auto sleeper body though was monocoque fibreglass, so leak free.

Oh and the original lead crystal wine glasses were missing 😁.

I got back most of what it cost me when I sold it to a nice family from Doncaster.

Edit: I added fluffy dice and a reversing camera too.
