Toyota Avensis 2ZRU- LPG

Hello everyone.

I am a proud owner of Toyota Avensis 1.8 147hp III generation since January this year and thinking of installing LPG system. I live and work in Bulgaria and most of the LPG systems on the market are BRC and Lovato. Both are italian systems, but I`m not pretty sure. However, my question is what is the risk for the car? Is there any at all?  I mean, I`ve read several forums and articles and there is mentioned something about the valve seats(LPG burns the valve seating away) which leads to headache to me. Probably you have already discussed this topic somewhere in the forum, but please help me to get the final decision should I install the LPG system or not. Any opinion will be helpful and valuable to me. Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Installing an LPG will depend mostly of how many miles you do per year. Definitely lpg cost money to install and then the maintenance adds up so if you drive a lot it will make sense to install it  but if you do only 10k a year or less then not really sure. You need to do the math first to see if there is any financial benefit.

Hi Tony,

Thank you for your comment. Usually I do at least 15k km per year and that is why I think to install the LPG. What is I am worry about are the consequences of installing it on the car. I love my cars and the plan is to have it for the next 10 years(it is our family car) and if the LPG will ruin the car in this period well I won`t install it.

Hi,

well that is hard to say. We had an lpg converted car in the family long time ago, we didn’t have any issues but it was an older car. I don’t know for sure  if the gas will cause any damage and here in UK lpg it’s not very popular and rarely available. Most people drive on petrol. In my opinion any modification from the original spec may cause some extra wear on the engine, how much though I don’t really know.  Good luck with any decision you make. 👍
