If Mayors are not accountable, and seem to be able to do as they please, then the position should be deemed undemocratic and disbanded.

Funnily enough there's a petition for that too!

Does the monster raving looney party have a mayoral candidate?

The Tories wouldn't publicly move against a labour mayor, that would just gift even more votes to the opposition than they've gifted already.

Heard a councillor this morning saying many people will just pay the ULEZ because that's what they have been conditioned to do.

What does that tell us about behavioural programming from cradle to grave.😡

We need to unite and be more like the French. The problem is our MSM, FB & our algorithms has successfully pitched everybody against each other.

I think they might! And our blonde-buffoon who made ULEZ expansion mandatory could be the man to do it!

Remember Boris won 2 successful mayor elections in Labour stronghold city!

Don’t blame Andy Pandy - he’s only a puppet.   Err, why isn’t he a minister, then?

Hi Albert,

Unfortunately Andy Pandy couldn't be a minister as he was arrested after he was found in possession of weed.😂

Very true we complain about these policies but many people seem to have this total apathy and seem to stand back waiting for the problem to go away on its own.☹️

People will stand for hours in bad weather, waiting for a football ticket, but won’t go to a polling station to vote!  This is why the extremists get their way, because they will fanatically go to vote.

My late dad was a staunch Labour voter, whereas I voted Conservative.  He was furious with me, but eventually relented when I pointed out that the politicians did not really care about the electorate, and that I voted on the basis of who would do the least harm.

I dunno, I think they're fighting more for the chance to sit around during the workday drinking cheap red and smoking Gauloise. 🤣

A few years ago, whilst we were on holiday in France, the farmers dumped in front of supermarket entrances - mixtures of animal waste, scrapings of fields, old tractor/trailer tyres and more.   I think protesters in France get more sympathy from the general public then we in the UK would give them.

Is it because they are protesting for the people. I remember a while ago n the UK when protesters blocked off motorways, causing utter chaos. I think it was something to do with not using oil. Why would I support them when they inconvenience me. Shows how much interest I took in their protest because of the inconvenience they caused me.

How cheap...? We might need to import it from them to run our cars on in the future if petrol prices keep going up!

That's it. I was so impressed (he says sarcastically) that I didn't even remember what it was about. All I remember was that I was inconvenienced by the (what I call) idiots. If they want me on their side, wouldn't make more sense to make me want to join them, rather than inconveniencing and upsetting me.

French supermarkets typically have two to three times the shelf space for wine, compared to ours in the UK.  And they are pretty much all French wines.  Our last visit to France was in 2019, and you could buy a really good bottle of red for between 4 and 6 Euros.

We are non-smokers, so wouldn’t know.  But I can’t imagine the French government being so Nanny State as our UK lot, so the French may not have abortive tax on them to discourage smoking.  Can’t remember seeing cigarettes on sale in French supermarkets, though.

I remember many years ago people used to do a booze and cigarette run every few weeks for personal use and to sell. I don't know if anyone does this anymore but I know many went over in small vans etc on the ferry.

Going back to those days, we had a camper van and were staying in the Folkestone area. One of the ferry operators had a day trip to Boulogne for £1.00 for a car.  We tried to go with our camper van, only to be told, “not with that, you can’t.”  It was only an Autosleepers Peugeot Talbot with a high top, but I vaguely recall some comment about the available loading capacity!
