I have no rev counter.Its the 2006 model.I have seen them first sale on eBay for less than £25,are they easy to fit or best for a mechanic to do?

See if you have the connector first, there are many threads on the subject

be aware there are petrol and diesel rev counters the petrol one has a 6500 rpm red line (goes up to 8k), the diesel one red lines at 4900 rpm (goes up to 6K)

As flash says worth checking you have the connector under the Speedo cowl. To remove turn steering wheel left, remove screw then turn steering wheel right remove screw and cowl just lifts off. Yours being an early car should have connector taped up under there. So you know the rev counter came with its own pre-cut cowl to make fitting easier, some sellers list both together, but I believe the standard cowl has cut out marked.
